Swell Fundraising was founded by nonprofit people for nonprofit people. Brooke, Swell’s founder and CEO, actually developed the concept for the software when she was chairing yet another fundraising event. She grew increasingly frustrated that only the people who showed up to the event were the ones that donated and that something as simple as a major donor’s babysitter cancelling might stand in the way of the organization receiving a gift from that donor.

So, five years ago, she created an event called the Smart Party and developed the software behind it. The Smart Party concept encouraged guests to donate from their phones during the event and used real-time leaderboards to track which guests in the room were most social and the top fundraisers. She also livestreamed the event so that there was never an excuse for a donor to not be able to participate! The software and concept acquired over 200 new donors for the organization and thus, Swell Fundraising was born.

Since then, we have seen enormous growth with the software. Swell has been a part of over 50 events and online campaigns in 9 different states, from New York all the way to Hawai’i. We have helped nonprofits raise nearly $700,000 more than their previous events and have brought over 2,500 more donors to these causes.

But Swell helps your event in more ways than raising more money, and we want to make sure you know about it. A Swell event is, ultimately, an event that grows bigger than the people in the room. In a fundraising sense, that of course, means more donors and more donations. In a general event sense, it means creating a buzz around your hashtag, reaching guests who aren’t in the room to make them wish they were and managing your event easier so that you can focus your attention elsewhere.

We say all of this to tell you that you’ll start to notice a logo that focuses just on Swell, and no longer has fundraising in the title. It’s not a major shift, it’s just an opening up to encompass all that we have grown to do. We can’t wait to continue working on events with you.
