How do you know your fundraising event was a success?

Health and mindfulness experts often say that your health and happiness should not be measured by one single aspect of your life. The number of pounds on the scale does not determine your overall health. The number of hours you work does not determine your ultimate success.

Similarly, the top line revenue at your fundraising event does not determine the success of your event! Measure your success by the many facets of influence available through your event.

• Diversity of Revenue Sources Did you raise $100,000 from repeat guests only or did your revenue include many new donors? –Repeat donors vs. new donors –Revenue made though Donations vs. Ticket Sales vs. Sponsorships

• Diversity of Donors –Older vs. younger donors –Geographically near vs. far donors –Physical event attendees vs. online donors

• Increased Awareness Did you gain social media followers? –Hashtag mentions –Website traffic — Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter followers

Of course, in the midst of all the details, remember your cause. Remember the mission, the heart — why you are increasing awareness and raising funds.
